Redwood Summit is two lodges beside Rotorua's Whakarewarewa Forest — one of the world's great mountain biking destinations, and a towering redwood forest to walk, run and wake up next to.
One lodge takes riding seriously, built around the rhythm of a Redwoods trip. The other is a family base with the forest, the lakes and Rotorua all a few minutes away. What you remember is the relationship between the house and the forest.

Designed around riders, groups and the rhythm of a Redwoods riding trip — wake, roll out the door into the forest, ride, return, wash and store the bikes, then spa and dinner together. Generous shared living meets a genuinely excellent post-ride setup.

Both lodge platforms are cut and shaped along the access road, forest on one side and the valley opening out on the other. Hydroseeding holds the batters while planting establishes.

When will Redwood Summit NZ be open for bookings?
The project is in development and we're targeting an opening in 2027. Opening reservations will be released to the First Stay List before public booking — join it for priority access and an exclusive opening benefit.
What is the First Stay List?
It's how to be first to stay. Members get priority booking access when opening reservations are released (ahead of the public), a small number of opening updates as the lodges are finished, and a First Stay benefit on their opening reservation. Joining takes an email address.
How close are the trails and forest?
Redwood Summit sits within the Redwood Park development — the Whakarewarewa Forest trail network is effectively on your doorstep. Roll out from the property and into the trees.
What is the difference between the two lodges?
The Rider Lodge is our dedicated mountain bike lodge — purpose-built rider facilities, generous shared living, and designed for riding groups and crews. The Family Lodge is designed around family stays, long weekends and exploring Rotorua together, with practical bike facilities for when riding is part of the trip.
How many people can stay?
The Rider Lodge is designed to comfortably sleep 8+ across multiple bedrooms — ideal for crews, teams, and extended groups. The Family Lodge is more family-scaled; final configurations will be confirmed closer to opening.
Can both lodges be booked together?

Is there secure bike storage?
Yes. The Rider Lodge has dedicated, secure bike storage plus a proper wash area and maintenance space. The Family Lodge also has practical bike facilities for when riding is part of the trip.
Will you be on Airbnb?
Likely yes, for discovery — but the Redwood Summit website stays the centre of the brand, and booking direct will always be the best way to stay. First Stay List members get booking access before anyone else, on any channel.

Rotorua, New Zealand — within the Redwood Park development, immediately adjacent to the Whakarewarewa Forest. Rotorua Airport and the city centre are both a short drive away.
